How do I make online matches more competitive

I play with my friend online and every time we play, unless someone has an interception, we always score a touchdown which makes the game a little uncompetitive. Anyone have suggestions on settings in Madden 10 to make it less likely we score on every drive or make it more difficult and more competitive? Thanks!

maybe you guys just aren't that good on defense?

maybe you should have a rule where you must punt on 4th down unless inside your opponents 40. even if it's 4th and inches?

my only suggestion is that neither of you are good at defense. Or maybe you're just too good on offense

I agree. Or, maybe the problem is the mode you are playing in. What mode are you using?
