Re: Honest 09 vs 10 Opinions please
I'll give you an honest opinion. And if you look further down in this post you'll see I'm no EA fanboy or apologist.
Madden 09 was horrid. From the robo QB, laser throws and ridiculous completion pcts to the unbelievable exclusion of CPU sliders to the mediocre graphics, it was perhaps the worst, most disappointing major game title in the history of mankind. I dumped it shortly after purchase and seriously, I wouldn't take it back if you gave it me for free because it's a complete waste of time.
Madden 10 has some frustrating flaws, which may or may not be patchable. We'll see. Your enjoyment of the game depends on whether you can live with them (poor OL blocking, open receivers in the flats, excessive holding on FGs, XPs, bad WR/DB interaction, lack of sacks and pressure for some, lame duck throws by CPU QB to avoid sacks when pressured, no user stats).
In spite of it all, I think it's the best-ever Madden and I look forward to playing it whenever I can. Looks absolutely fantastic, by far the best-looking FB game ever. I've managed to overlook the flaws and I'm hopeful some are repairable with patches. Even if they're not, I fully expect to be playing this for many, many months.
It almost as if EA axed the people who were responsible for that 09 travesty and started anew.
EDIT: It sounds like you're low on dough. In that case, I wouldn't spend $65 on it without being sure, since this game seems to have a polarizing effect on the masses. You might love it, but you might hate it. Rent it first, but don't just play it once or twice before you decide. When I first played it, I was disappointed and considered dumping it because it just didn't come close to matching the incredible pre-release hype and reviews. But I continued playing it, tweaking the settings and sliders, and it grew on me like an STD on Chuck Sheen.
