For everyone that is clamoring for EA to start over from scratch on thier physics engine, be careful what you wish for.

Starting over usually yields for you the "Netscape 6.0"s of the software world.

If you're waiting for the holy grail of football games, you're probably going to have to wait until the next generation when (hopefully when) EA decides to scrap this engine, and build a new one from scratch.

Sad, but true.
If this is the case then we are screwed because Sony and MS have both stated that they have no intentions on bringing out another console anytime soon. Both companies have stated that there is not a big market for a new console, no need for a new console and that the current consoles will be here for years to come.

Hate to burst your bubble but pro-tak is still strictly animation based.

Well, maybe I stated my point slightly incorrect. Madden 07 and earlier had a tackling system based strictly on single-canned-animations.

I agree with an earlier poster that called out EA for saying that this is a new Madden engine, becuase its obviously not a new engine. The same issues that have been in this gen's Madden's were also apparent in last gen's Madden. Suction blocking and guys running out of bounds on out patterns have been in since like 1996....lol

Which is pretty much what we STILL have now.....What we have now COULD have and SHOULD have been in Madden 07. All this "new technology" stuff is bogus. Time restriants have limited it til now.....So it can be billed as "NEW" additions.

Madden is STILL way behind what it SHOULD be. Is it a step up? IT SURE as hell is. but WAY WAY overdue....Which is EXACTLY as EA planned it.

I think it is safe to say, what we have now is the best it will EVER get on the current generation of consoles. Once the new consoles hit, the viscious cycle will begin again.

madden was less than average by design if you ask me ever since they got the exclusive agreement with the NFL. They had ZERO reason to do or try anything new from the start.,..Mainly because the didnt have to.

I am still holding my ground on this....Exclusivity KILLED Madden and will continue to hold it back. It will NEVER be where it once was.

you realize that it is in thier best interests to state this right? You might not think it would affect sales right now to say "we will release a new console in 2012" but you'd be surprised what market research will yield when it comes to consumers putting off a purchase in anticipation of something better or a replacement.

now I cant say they arent telling the truth cause a console is huge investment for a company to make with a long term profit goal and very thin margins, but I wouldnt assume this is the case just because the two big dogs said so...course I dont wanna spend $400 on a new console for a longtime so I say keep it (hell sell me some upgradeable parts).

Re: It's All In The Engine Revised Edition

What Madden did receive when it made the jump to next gen was a new graphics engine.
