Im getting ready to start a franchise as soon as the patch comes out, although i know it probably won't help. This is what i have learned buy playing play now games. These house rules are a must for my franchise.

1. madden picks my offensive plays
2. minimal plays to the flats (although you shouldn't have to do this)
3. Control all teams but only actually play as 1
4. ALWAYS kick field goals for the computer since they seem to miss very easy ones.
5. only 1 holding penalty on field goals. After 1 automatic decline if it's good.

Those are my top 5. i would recommend this to everyone who is wanting a true sim game. Although i KNOW this is the only thing we have, but we have to get over it if we want a football game. If you have any rules that are good please let me know. BTW if the game is on the line for me and it comes to kicking a fieldgoal for the computer i will make it. I like to lose it's part of the game

unless its a legit pick 6 i don't use turbo on interceptions. so far, week three in franchise with falcons...

W 23-17 over Miami
W 24-18 over Carolina

Both games were great using house rules.

i know exactly what you mean. We shouldn't have to do this. If you can look past some of the things that make the game bad it's actually not to bad. it could be better though. ALOT better. I'm going to get my 60 bucks out of it though hah!

yeah, it is definitely lame that you have to do that. what other option do we have? i know, nfl2k5 was amazing, but the work that you have to do with updated rosters, finns editor, etc...its just too time consuming and I love football too much not to have a franchise. i'm not a fantasy guy either, so I can't rely on that.

ohh i know it is lame! What do you do though? i love playing football games. we all have to deal with it or not play at all!

I'm playing it still, and just giving into the fact video games aren't even remotely realistic.

But I also dislike having to play by certain rules to make a game play well.
