Until a couple years ago my Tampa Bay Buccaneers did not have a return for a TD in their entire history. They still only have one to the best of my knowledge. I don't know if this is patch-related, but since I got the patch I've now run back two kickoffs for TD's on all-Madden level, this last one for 105 yards.
I should be jazzed I guess, but...
1) The 105 yard return only starts in the replay (as well as the ones you can save) at the 29 yard line. At this point I only have only the kicker to beat. All the highlights I made avoiding tacklers are gone. (Obviously the replay thing isn't fixed in this patch yet.) Is 1905 considered good for "greatness"? I have no idea because what is saved in the replay starting at the 29 yard line ain't all that great. Kind of defeats the purpose of having great plays to save if you can't really save them. What's 71% of 1905? :-)
2) At the start of the replay I notice a very odd thing. (Although you can't see it because of #3 below.) Three of my players are a full 15 yards ahead of me running up field blocking no one. One is fully 30 yards ahead on the other 40 yard line running full speed towards my end zone. Do any of these three guys think to maybe turn around and try to block someone? Nope.
3) Why is every single angle you can choose from to save a replay for a kickoff return not good enough to really capture the play? Wire, pressbox wide, pressbox tight, endzone, reverse endzone, sideline, reverse sideline.
Wire? I'm looking at the top of my head like an alien spacecraft is tracking me. Endzone, reverse endzone, sideline, and reverse sideline are all too low and at ground level. The best available, pressbox wide, only shows the bottom one-third of the field and 15-20 yards at a time at the most. (This is considered "wide"?)
And this I'm actually not complaining about, but just bringing up as another thing that's odd. How often do you see two players on a 105 yard kickoff for a TD escorting your player into the end zone?
I'm just saying, this is new and I hope this isn't as a result of the patch, and that I won't see too many more of these things at all-Madden level, because I'm not that good and neither are my Bucs.
Not to nit pick, but after spurlock's TD return against the falcons 2 years ago, clifton smith had one last year against the chiefs. I remember this because I too am a Bucs fan and it was the first or second game they put smith in and took out the rediculously horrible dexter jackson.
I have had some success with clifton smith in the return game, by week 9 I have 2 TD returns from him. I dont think this is too rediculous, considering this guy made the pro bowl and was on the practice squad starting the season last year.
i dont think the blocking is different because they said when they tunned it that it would not effect kick returns. but have you ever turned up the slider for your running back ? and see them do more moves like break tackles spins jumps on there own without you doing a thing well that is what ea did make the default setting for the runing backs more responsive as a default so lower your rb slider and you be back to post patch.
