Re: the wilcat is lame

Wildcat is such a joke .Whenever i see someone in the wildcat i just blitz my linebackers and I stop them for a lose. Now if they added more to the wildcat then it could really be dangerous. Such as being able to scramble while passing, or just add all the plays in the shotgun get to trick people.

the wildcat is a joke in real life, why should it be any different in madden?

All wildcat means to me is a near guaranteed hit in the backfield.

care to share what plays you use to accomplish this? if not your post is useless and a waste of kilobytes

If it is a joke then why does it work so well?

Re: the wilcat is lame

i've been studying the wildcat pretty closely and I plan on writing a tutorial on how i stop the formation. all over the internet everybody just says "i just blitz the heck out of the wildcat" as if any moneky can just pick a blitz and shut it down. well that only works if the person doesn't know what they are doing. In the hands of a good player the wildcat is deadly unless you have a very specific strategy against it.

key things to keep in mind when stopping the wildcat especially with accelerated clock (there is no time for all that Nano BS).

1. Wildcat creates "7 on 7" or "7 on 8" disadvantages for the defense. That pulling guard is a killer. you have to find a way to even the playing field or take back the advantage. over blitzing takes defenders out of the play before they can eat up a blocker. stick skills must be utilized. This means at most, you can expect only one free player to avoid being blocked and have a chance to make the play.

2. receiver blocking out of wildcat formations is very effective

3. RBs seem to get boosted break tackle abilities out of wildcat

4. Wildcat has a few different formations. a defense that works against one formation probably won't work against another. you have to adjust for this. again those receivers do a pretty good job of blocking. you must be aware of your opponents alignment. Simply identifying the wildcat formation will not help you consistently stop every wildcat attack.

5. The Wildcat has the most effective, consistent, and predictable blocking in the whole game. for the most part you know exactly who each lineman will block before the snap which drastically simplifies your blocking reads.

my point is ther is no one magical defense that isn't open to one of these five threats. you have to adapt to your opponent

I don't think it's lame but it's hard for me to run it good
