Fanchise Question

After about two years of playing in franchise mode, I am immediately in a huge cap penalty, but I don't know what it's for. It isn't my contracts, because there's no way my players salaries add up to that much. It must be some other cause that I don't know about.

Did anyone else have this problem? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Re: Fanchise Question

If you released players who had years left on contracts, it could be the cap penalties from those players.

Re: Fanchise Question

Any players that you release or trade gives you a cap penalty (whatever bonus money is remaining on the players contract).

When you're trading a player away, check what his cap penalty will be by trying to release him, prior to confirming his or her (cutler) release an info box will popup telling you how much cap penalty his release will cost... it is the same amount when you trade the player. This cap penalty is enforced the following season.

My guess is you've been trading too many of your players who have high contract bonuses.

That's exactly what he did.

Unlike in other sports, it is not very easy to move guys around very easily without paying for it (literally!).
