Playmaker control in Madden 10? (for blocking)

I just read Madden's skimpy manual and I noticed there is a control combination called playmaker. Where you hold the Left Trigger and press a direction on the right stick on offense with the ball. So I went into practice mode to try it out and when you do it on like screen plays your player puts his hand out with ball and points like he is directing blockers. You see a blue ring under the blockers feet and it looks like they'll attempt to move were you point. It doesn't seem to work very well. Has anyone else tried this? Is this really what it is. I remember they had playmaker back when Michael Vick was on the cover and took the feature out the game.

Havent noticed this who do you do it with? The QB or the ball carrier?

Yea, I've managed to do it with QB once while scrambling and he told a receiver where to move to for a pass instead of blocking it seemed. Haven't tried it on kick returns or punt returns yet.

AFAIK there is no blocking playmaker. i use it all the time if guys are in zone, say my RB or slot guy runs a curl route and the defender is just sitting there on him. You playmaker him to run left or right and lose the defender as you lead pass to the direction hes now running, it works like a champ.
