There's been a lot of debate over hiding the potential overall rating or not hiding it. IMO, the overall rating sort of kills the realism of franchise mode. In reality, when teams look at player they want to draft or sign, there's nothing that tells them that player A is a better overall football player than player B. Teams have to look at the player's performance and specific attributes like speed, agility, strength and evaluate how those players will fit into their system in order to determine if one player is better than the other.

There should be no OVR. You may think a 99 Speed 60 Strength player deserves a 90. But I may think a 90 Strength 70 Speed deserves 90.

I may like Power over Speed and vice-versa.

Actual potential and overall should be hidden.

A perceived potential and overall should be shown.

And all measurable's should be exact.

Are you getting a fast/dumb/unpolished guy or a fast/smart/polished guy. You should have some idea, but other than the speed, it may not be accurate.

No. Remove unrequired stats for positions eg run block for qbs.
Give each position its relative stats then average them. Make that overall.

Either that or leave overall as it is

Getting rid of the overall rating all together is ludicrous. In Franchise mode getting rid of it would definitely add to the realism though.

I think what should be done is add the potential as a letter grade over an actual number. Also add whether a player is, On the rise, On the decline, or in his prime. Things like this along with career statistics, pro bowls, and any career accomplishments should determine why you signed player X or drafted player Y. Having an overall rating in Franchise mode kills part of the realism.

An option for it should definitely be added though as then you would be able to please the entire Madden community with this particular subject.
