if u have space in ur current seasons salary cap resign him for one year. resigning him again will increase the bonus more, but it will all count against ur current seasons cap total.

like i said: it will only work if u r under the cap by heaps.

Or you could just play it realistically and admit you made a horrible mistake signing Merriman and be like the late 90's-early 00's 49ers and waste away beneath the herculean grasp of the NFL salary cap.

Yea... that's probably what I'll have to do. It sucks, but I'll be able to deal hopefully.
