I had my first a few week ago as well. Actually it was two firsts for me because the CPU got a roughing the passer penalty for a late hit on Phillip Rivers after completing a pass (for a TD) to Sproles. Rivers had fractured his vertebrae just like your guy. Before that I had never seen the CPU get called for a late hit on the QB or a career ending injury. Needless to say I was scouting QB's for the rest of the season.

That totally sucks but at least you got some cap room!

Yeah that was the one big thing that made it kinda okay. I was gonna be in cap hell in the next season but him retiring for medical reasons freed up like 35 mil in cap space. Ended up getting a really good draft class too.
