720, can i get 1080 for ps3?

Leave 720p and 1080i unchecked and it loads 1080p automatically.

sounds like your tv doesn't support 1080... if you try and force it to 1080 by deselecting 720 and your tv doesn't support this resolution, it will revert to 576 (or SD) which would explain why it looks ordinary. Either that, or your using an older HDMI cable version... Looks sweet in 1080p if you can get it!!!

I'm gonna set this straight, If you listen or not is up to you.

The game will play on 1080, and 1080p if you uncheck 720p , and your monitor accepts those formats.

The bad news is, the game was built for 720p(like 99% PS3 games), and selecting the others will lead to more jaggies from the conversion the PS3 does internally.

So while you are welcome to try 1080p, it wont look better, because the game was built for 720p. I am not sure how they did this, but its a fact.

So the others are correct, use 720p

Someday we PS3 users will get a true, clean 1080p picture

So, let me get this straight..... the back of the box says 720p, 1080i and 1080p..... you say that the ps3 is in fact upscaling the game to 1080p as it was only programmed for 720p...??? if that's the case, why doesn't the ps3 upscale all games??? not sure about anyone else, but games that i have that show 1080p on the back, definitely look better running in 1080p than 720p eg. M10, COD4, GTA4 etc...

FYI..these games are not "native" 1080p..its just upscaling them to that resolution. Although depending on your tv..some times it looks good and some times it dont..depends on the tv's upscaler chip. On my 58inch Panasonic Plasma..it looks quite good but on my friend's vizio at 1080p..not so much

this is great.... one guy says the PS3 is doing the upscaling, another that the TV is doing the upscaling.... and i still don't think either of you are right! if either of those scenarios were true, it should be the same for all PS3 games, and would essentially make the resolution on the back of the games obsolete...

Unfortunately, i think your both wrong.... PS3 games are not upscaled in any way...

Yea, Ian said that there is more aliasing in 1080 and that 720 is all around smoother.
