I agree, maybe a sliding salary based on round or day the player was picked.

I'm sorry.I should have explained. Was in a hurry on my last post.
You CAN franchise Tag a Rookie(in a sense) .

Franchise tag is a 1 year contract 16mill with 0 bonus.
So just offer the player that contract and he will accept.

Oh one more thing. With normal vets wanting more money this will def work.I have done it with J.Stewart from the Panthers. With rookies it will work for the one season. If they arent worth what you originally thought you can cut them with NO cap penalties. If they are worth it wait for the one season to be over ad resign.

The initial contracts in the NFL always get higher each year. Soon it could be as high as that, especially because the league is uncapping the salary next year or the year after.

They are most likely going to cap it in 2012. This is why this years draft is going to be stocked. Hopefully they will then impliment this in Madden.

Re: How to deal with rookie qb asking for 100mill or more

I got shafted by Jai Eugene in the draft. I picked him up as the 3rd overall pick because I need to remake my secondary and he was the highest rated DB in the draft. He ended up snagging a $100 million contract because I had some cash to blow. I'll be upset, to say the least, if he doesn't live up to his A potential. He's an 85OVR rookie.

A rookie cap is not really necessary in the NFL, because in the NBA there are a lot more busts than in the NFL. You can draft a QB such as Tim Tebow and turn him into a tight end if he doesn't work out. You can't take a center and move him to point guard.

The system is cool the way it is.
