Same here. first or second pick in the draft. Didn't sign him and he signed with the Pats. I wish you had the preseason to sign draft picks with the option that they may decrease the amount they were asking for. The amount that some ask for is ridiculous.

Hmm, so the options are;

1-Pay a massive amount for talented rookies, even though the CPU wouldnt have to.

2-Let the CPU auto sign draft picks for you to get reasonable contracts. (but then you dont really get to decide who you sign.)

3-Don't sign talented rookies at all, and hope to nab them subsequently in FA.

4-Don't play Madden.

Am I right?

I go with option two.... Not that big of a deal since you can release the bottom picks if they rate out bad.. And most teams usually sign the majority of picks they make. I just didn't know the CPU signed at a more reasonable rate.

Actually...it's try to win the SB and you'd have the 32nd pick rather than the 1st. If you scout extremely well and study the combine numbers you can come out well: I drafted 3 80+ players in my draft

and i drafted him 1st overall and he wanted 100 million and 45 million signing bonus. i was like are you crazy do you think im AL Davis, there is no way im paying you this much so i didn't sign him and simmed the contact signings bit.

so after he signed with another team for like 540 k he had it coming asking for over 100mill lol.

so then i traded for him and i got him for bare cheap try this yourself and he was 85 overall (rookie).
Why did he sign with another team if you simmed the signings?

I do this all the time. If a player won't settle for a decent offer, just back out, go to "Franchise Options" and change "Sign Rookies" to "CPU", then go back the the off-season menu and sim signings.

Boom, he's on your team for about 20 million less.
