Madden 10 sales are weak this year is that alarming to EA?

IMO, I think some really don't realize that a previous year's release has a HUGE impact on the current year.

I'd liken this to NBA Live - a much better game this year all around... yet it sold even less.

NBA 2k in the meanwhile sold its highest ever.

MLB The Show - again, highest ever, after a great year last year.

FIFA - Same trend.

Madden last year was absolutely terrible. The general public is down and expecting the game to not be THAT much better last year. Long time Madden fans hated the last few years but kept buying it.

I had to convince a friend that Madden was actually a decent experience this year, something I've never done in the past. They always purchased it, I always passed... this year, it was vice versa.

Hopefully the Madden suits see this. As more and more move away from PS2/Xbox, they're going by what they tried last year with Madden. Everyone felt the same, and the football genre hadn't progressed as much as the other sports.

I think this year they will just have to take their lumps financially. If they improve on this year's title positively, sales will jump right back up.

But they're ALREADY losing people who in the past had bought the game. 5 straight years of declining sales numbers don't lie.

Trust me, if they made a football game with the quality of say, Uncharted 2 or Batman, their numbers would improve DRAMATICALLY, even if they changed things up from the same ol' "engine" they've been using.

really the biggest loss from this year to last year was on the Wii, not the PS3 or 360.

More people are buying it on the PS3 than ever before now. I understand why, free online play, easy patches via internet now, free add-ons w/ help from reebok, price drop, cheapest blu-ray player in the market etc. etc..

Sony and MS are really helping keep Madden a top tier sports game.

No, the reason it sold more on the PS3 is because the PS3 has recently seen a MASSIVE spike in sales.

And what's with the repeating PR line? Are you a shareholder or something?

EA is maybe a lil disappointed but not alarmed.
But continue if you have something worth a few cents to share w/ the Madden nation.
I wish I got the Madden Promo that all the new PS3 buyers are getting.

Its pretty sweet, bring your 360 into any gaming store(thats sells new PS3s), they will actually throw it against the wall and in turn you get a Free Madden 10 when you purchase a New PS3! BTW, JK Lol.

It's the economy.
If given the choice between eating or spending $60 on a videogame, most people opt for the former.
I really doubt those people struggling financially read OS opinions on Madden.
