changing positions

i'm wondering if by changing positions of players via the edit feature during a season will affect their ability to progress.

Yes, they will progress according to their position when you enter the offseason. Even if you were to have them play all season at LB and then change their position to CB at the very last second before you go to the offseason, they will progress as a CB instead of a LB. You can also play a player out of position (i.e. play a LB at DE but leave his position as LB) and he will progress like his actual position. I'll do my best to compile a a list of what increases at each position. (Note: every position increases in Awareness so I'm not writing it down for any of them)

QB: SAC, MAC, DAC, TOR (throw on the run), PAC (play action)

HB: TRK, ELU, AGI, ACC, BCV

FB: RBS, IMP

WR: CTH, CIT, SPC, RTE, AGI, ACC, JMP

TE: CTH, CIT, RBS, IMP

OL: IMP, RBS, RBF, PBS, PBF

DL: BKS, PWM, FNM, PRC, PUR, TAK

LB: PUR, PRC, TAK, POW, BKS, PWM, FNM, ZCV

CB: MCV, ZCV, PUR, PRC, PRS, AGI, ACC, CTH, JMP

FS: AGI, ACC, JMP, CTH, ZCV, PUR, PRC, TAK

SS: TAK, POW, PUR, ZCV, PRC, JMP

K/P: KPW, KAC
