Re: Xbox live activity November 09

Could just be a sign that people are unwilling to pay the extra $$$ to play their used Madden copies online.

I just posted a blog basically stating that I think consumers are wising up and that I think the exclusive license can be beat if the disgruntled gamers joined forces in the right areas but I don't think your evidence shows that very well.

Madden fans will look at it and point out that the list is overwhelmingly shooter games and that madden is still tops among sports games.

Yah, we're wising up in the sense that most of us don't want to play against random, cheesing dbag online.

Yea but I have plenty of data to back up my claim. All you have to do is pull the live activity for previous months. Madden 10 was only on the top 10 for one month! I don't think that has ever happened(research pending) But there was a time where Madden was also in the top 10 for a while(research pending). I glanced at one list where it was nbr 2, I think that was in 07. So it has dropped every year. So that also kills the argument that people dont want to play cheesers online.

Re: Xbox live activity November 09

It is interesting. The fact it has gone down even with madden 10 having online franchise to attract online gamers does say something I guess.

I don't doubt madden is losing popularity. I know I quit playing a month ago and that was after my friends had already given up on the game. I don't know what the decrease means for madden tho. They make up for losses in sales of the game with sales of AFL packs, purchased cheats and Ultimate team cards so the profit is probably still there or more than ever.

Re: Xbox live activity November 09

I just think its crazy how much the popularity of football gaming has fallen. It used to be the top dawg for so long and now it seems people could care less. While others genres are striving and innovating especially with the online aspects(how long will we have to deal with disconnectors?), the football genre is still behind. So I guess people are moving onto bigger and better things. How the hell can the demo be ahead of the real game?

Is it? I'm a PS3 guy, so I've never, ever seen these charts before; but both L4D and MX vs ATV are designated as demos, while Madden is not.
