Can someone explain how this happened... it seems to defy the laws of physics... but it can't have because Madden 10 has a "flawless" physics engine according to the developers.

Its called "Pre-canned animations" I would go as far to say you can never have a flawless physics engine while using pre-canned animations because they are inherently flawed.

How can you expect to properly represent physics in real time game play when you use an animation that was taken out of context and made in a studio? It is something you have to learn to accept until games move away from using pre-canned animations and use something else.

Most games do a decent job of hiding these flaws but like I said before...

The sad thing about it is that you will see animation mistakes, such as this one, but you won't see football mistakes. Players play with robotic precision.
