good ideas (and i'm sure we could all come up with tons of other good ones) but unfortunately this will never happen. 1 year dev. cycles are the norm now. too ba for us. we have to expect 2 patches every year and broken games on release.

80-90% of games are broken on release, especially multiplayer games...patches are the way now

BTW this idea worked in my dream last nite.

I don't play COD but it's sounds like a good idea. I mean you would still have a yearly release you would just have a bigger team already starting on the next game(Madden 12). Or even further down the line. It would/should be an ongoing process. Of course the direction video games are moving you won't be buying hard discs anymore you'll just be downloading the latest version. So you could actually have one group working on improving the current title, daily. And another group getting ready to relese the much improved next version... sounds great but.. probably will never happen. Video games should learn from their mistakes and improve every year, but sadly they never seem to.
