Progression and Regression in Franchise

We just completed our second season in my online franchise. Some of the progressions/regressions were spot on, but there were a handful that had me scratching my head...

Jacques Cesaire led the league in sacks with 19 and was a 74 overall. After advancing the season, he regressed to a 71.

Antonio Smith had 9 sacks and 2 interceptions, he regressed from an 85 to an 83.

Jay Cutler had 13 TD and 21 INT and progressed from 90 to 91.

There were many more similar situations, but those were just a few i could think of off the top of my head.

Re: Progression and Regression in Franchise

Madden's progression this year is mostly driven by the player's age and potential ratings.

Stats have very little to do with it.

Ah interesting...all this time I thought it was stat driven.

Re: Progression and Regression in Franchise

Actually it's a mixture of age, potential rating, and stats. I've had players that were A potential, early to mid 20's in age, and have horrible years and they would either stay the same OVR or regress.

And on that same note I've had some players who were 34 and 35 years old that actually had GREAT years with GREAT stats go up still although it was only 1 or 2 points they still went up.

It's a mix.

Thanks for the clarification

How so? It's realistic. Kamerion Wimbley was amazing his rookie year and has only gotten worse since then. Just one example of a player having a good season but not progressing.
