Madden / EA / Points?

I can't do a search b/c I'm not even sure what to call this, but...

When I fire up the PS3 version and get connected to the EA servers, a point total appears in blue in the lower right hand corner of the screen.

Like "1750/1750" or thereabouts...every time I play it's higher, prob due to more hours logged playing, etc.

I have no idea what exactly this is or what good (if any) it does me.

Little help?

It's for your avatar on EA's site. It's called EA Sports World or something to that effect.

What's the point?

Are they redeemable for something or relate to some kind of ranking?

I don't think the points are really worth much for anything else. They only go towards your Avatar.

I wish there was a way to remove my Avatar because they sort of look silly.

Hmmm...okay, thanks guys...

I recall picking an 8 Ball avatar b/c it was pretty basic...so...good enough!
