I've been playing with the 2nd patch all day today, and one of the things I noticed is the increase in fumbles. I played a game today with 65 / 65 player / cpu on fumbles, and there were 8 fumbles in a 115 play game. Are other people experiencing an increase in fumbles as well?

I have noticed this as well. I dropped it down to 20 and have seen 0-1 a game for the past three games I've played.

The way the slider works, 20 would increase the number of fumbles, not reduce it. You can check the Pro, All Pro, Madden settings to verify what direction the slider goes as they make it progressively harder.

What I found strange is that the fumbles seemed to be triggered when I was hit as I was pressing the RT button. In other words, as the player transitioned from a run to a sprint. Does anyone know if this has been a way to cause a fumble in past versions of Madden?

In APF2K8 if you switched directions quickly, basically turned right to left or left to right, and allowed the defensive player to hit you square on, you increased the chance of a fumble. It didn't guarantee it by any measure, but the odds were definitely greater.

I'm wondering there are certain conditions in Madden 10 that may increase the likelihood of a fumble as well? Any Madden gurus out there want to enlighten us on the subject?

I'm seeing more fumbles too. Prior to the patch, using a variety of sliders, I didn't see many fumbles at all. I'd go games fumble-less. Since the patch it's been like 2 per game. My RB (Jamaal Charles in my franchise) has fumbled it like twice in each of the last 3 games.

heh, always a possibility! I've played 5 seasons prior to this patch though, and I believe 5 fumbles for both teams was the highest before. After the patch, I had 8 on my first game, followed by 3 in the first half of the next before I reset the game and bumped up the Fumbles setting. With the higher setting, I have consistently seen 1 to 3 fumbles per game (ideal) for the remainder of the day. So if it is a placebo, then it's been a fairly consistent one after a full day of testing.

YES. I have seen a TON of fumbles since the patch. Had 6, 7, 5, 3, and 4.. Had 8 today in a Colts/Eagles game and seen Bob Sanders actually punch the ball out from behind.
