I just picked up Madden 10 last week and have never played franchise before. I was wondering if there was a guide or anything on here with tips on how to sign players and manage your roster?

A lot of it is just personal preference. The best advice I can give is make sure you start with the latest roster update and patch update.
If there is a player you really like and want to keep; sign him to a long term deal. If there is a player you don't like, drop him or trade him.
