I'm confused about the dive button.

Ok - you've got (on the 360) the X button for dive... At least, as far as I know that's what it's supposed to do.

Now can anyone tell me why whenever I use it anywhere but at the goal line my player fumbles it at least 80% of the time? I don't get it. I try sliding with the QB - he dives and drops the ball. I try to dive to grab the first down when I'm close to getting hit - my guy just drops the ball and leaps forward.

It happens all the time, regardless of what sliders I'm using... Am I doing something wrong here? Is X really the "drop the ball for a turnover" button?

Tap for slide.

I agree though, it's pretty useless as a DIVE function. especially with the unpredictable ball spotting. Never know where they'll spot it even if you dont fumble.

You're right, "X" almost always fumbles it's basically useless.

I only use the dive button to slide or diving across the goalline when way out in front of everyone. As an actual dive button it is pretty useless.

Re: I'm confused about the dive button.

yeah i try to slide with my qb but the x button always makes him leap/stretch foward so the ball hits the defender and he fumbles. now i only use it sometimes when its faster enough than running to get me in the endzone instead of the 1 yard line. btw anyone know how to jump over the pile like the com does

Re: I'm confused about the dive button.

Like someone said before, tapping it will do a QB slide and it will also get your RB air around the endzone. If you mash it down then you normally get the one handed dive that ends up in the ball carrier fumbling.

Re: I'm confused about the dive button.

You have to let go of the LEFT STICK when tapping X to slide, otherwise you dive! I rarely fumble diving forward the generic way unless its up the middle and they punch the ball out loose.
