There's a lot of things in Madden that's not realistic, though.

So if cheese = unrealistic, then does that make Madden a cheese game?

I'm not defending cheese - but I can see lots of things a real NFL player wouldn't do that happens in Madden that have nothing to do with whether or not a player is "Sim" or not but the way the game operates as it is.

Also, people talk about what they see on Sundays - well Jax went for it on 4th down in their own territory, a move considered "cheese" because "it doesn't happen" but it just did.

Throwing the backs is (or at least used to be) considered cheese - but happens frequently in real life. Heck, Ray Rice leads HB in pass receptions - Bryan Westbrook and Marshall Faulk (going back some years) were big in the pass game, but that's cheese in the Madden world?

It's interesting where the line gets drawn and how it's "okay" to cut off things that DO happen on Sundays as still being cheese.

Do QBs sprint for the sideline at the snap? No. Does Madden have a realistic number of bootlegs? Imo, no. But it's okay to run bootlegs out of just a few predictable plays (as in, oh they bootlegged so they are running 1 of 3 plays in their playbook) - but not okay to be creative and improvise, even though players do that all the time on Sunday when they need to make a play?

Re: Cheese or No Cheese

Far less is cheese and far more is people trying to create scenarios they are comfortable with. Many gamers don't want to be challenged or be tricked by an unexpected plan. APF gamers were the absolute worst when it came to "sim" gaming. We had rule pages over 5 pages long for leagues.

I haven't ran into anything that is unstoppable in this game. Does it suck when people run the same 2 plays for a whole game? yes. Is it "cheese"... no. Cheese is exploiting the game mechanics.

Re: Cheese or No Cheese

to me stupid and waste of time... I have league bunch friends.... Let another guy in. Well of to play him. and ran same 3 mother trucking plays over and over.. and on those he take qb run out pocket and throw across his body to TE, RB or WR. I am no #1 madden player and I tried stop it.. I told him learn play or your gone. I been keeping eye on his game vs cpu, and I noticed that he only has maybe one qb run entire game... I just dont understand why people play that away?

I have Vick , and pat white back up and I could run all day. got some nice play actions plays qb can run for side line off Texans play book. but to me just stupid!!! play right or don't play at all.

Online ranked games this type of tactic should be expected, but in a supposedly SIM OLF its straight garbage. Again the point is its not SIM so don't do it.

Also if a guy is dropping 9 men into coverage run the damn ball, you get an easy 5 or more per carry. Problem is most gamers wanna throw all day. So quit crying about dropping nine into coverage, but if a guy has no run threat why not drop into heavy zones, that just makes sense. I rarely run 9 Velcro but if a guy intends on passing everytime it'll be in my gameplan.

We're not talking about the way the game is programmed as being un-sim, at this time its what we have to work with as far as an NFL game, I preferred 2K's series. But what we are dealing with is a person who is taking advantage of the weak programming in this game and that is cheese as well as un-sim period.

I guarantee you if an NFL team was dropping 9 into coverage every down like some were claiming this guy was doing, that team on offense woud run the damn ball, he has Jones-Drew (as long as no trades/releases are concerned), hell even HB slip screens tear that D up because all the DB's/LB's drop and on the DE is in the flats and with a slow 2 DT pass rush you have all day to let the defense drop further and further away and let your lead blockers take out that DE. IMO this is a case of a guy resorting to cheese when he couldn't figure the defense out.

Side not-passes to HB's in the flat isn't cheese, Cov 2, Nickel, Dime Cov 3, man shut those routes down.

Re: Cheese or No Cheese

For the record, I was on D in these videos.

If that play was the 9 Velcro, I dont recall calling it. And if I did, it was that play only.

When he said I was in the same D all day, he was probally referring to a Cover 2 or Cover 3. I use one of the 2 normally, with an occasional blitz with man.

I know there are ways to stop the sprint out, but in a SIM league, you shouldnt have to worry about that.

Thanks for all the input.

The other guy was kicked out of the league for various reasons.
