So what are the problems with Franchise mode?

I bought this, but haven't opened, as I want to make sure it's Franchise mode is legit enough. I'm not a die-hard stats fan or anything, I just get annoyed with CPU teams that can't manage better than a 5th grader. I don't really feel like controlling all teams to fix that either.

So is it still playable without controlling all teams and if there are known workarounds around any of the problems, if those could be posted. thanks guys.

Progression is better, but still very stupid.

Many draft picks start off way too high as rookies.

Stats are stupid but generally follow the right trend, at least.

Other than that, its the best Madden in quite a long time.
