Releasing Players After Contract's Up?

Hey guys,

I've been playing in franchise mode for a bit now, letting the CPU sign and cut people for me in the offseason. Well there were some guys on a team, who's contracts were up, that I wanted to get rid of and I couldn't. If I went into the player managment menu, it only gave me the option to edit players, and in the resign players menu there isn't a cut or release feature. Now before you guys go into the CPU sign/cut settings, I changed them, saved and still nothing... Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

So all of those settings are on 'User'?

Have you just gone to Player Management, hit A and gone to release?

I'm playing on PS3, so I have no A button... But when I hit X, which I assume is the same thing, it brings me to the screen where I could normally, in regular season, choose between Resign, Edit, Trade, Trading block, etc... Even release. But not in post season...

As a side note, the X button is the bottom button. As far as I can tell, things are layed out the same on both... Where is the A button on XBox?

If you are in the offseason already, they will be released if you do not give them a new contract during the period for resigning your players. I have noticed that you can't release a player like you said in this situation, but just don't give him a new contract and he will be released.

Not at all... If you choose to SIM past this event, the computer will handle the contracts... I've tried a few times now, chaning the setting, simming past with and without the computer help... And I still get guys resigned again... I think this is an oversight by the company and nothing more... Oh well...

Untrue...if you have resign set to USER and are at the resign player portion of the offseason, while in the menu where it shows all the players whose contracts are up resign who you want and advance past this screen. The comp releases whoever u don't resign....don't know what else to tell ya...'cept maybe User Error?
