Sounds cool to me. But I'd bet that if the commentary from the lead announcer weren't so bad we wouldn't even be thinking about stuff like this.

If it were up to me I'd probably be getting rid of half the audio database that shipped the past two years.

True and I'm excited about the new tech ideas like natural motion and this new commentary software. I think more companies are now going to create features instead of whole games to bait the public into persuading EA to buy it. Especially since no company can compete with EA head-to-head.

In the right hands this feature could take Madden 11 to another level with respect to commentary. I've said it many times before and I'll say it again. Could you imagine the depth of commentary we would receive from journalism/media & marketing students from Syracuse or Northwestern?

None of this is even necessary. Either get rid of Hammond and get Michaels, or get rid of both and get someone like Buck and Aikman.

Or, if EA is feeling really adventurous, have multiple commentators and have each game in franchise 'broadcast' by a different (real network).

This is a good idea though, and I'd happily welcome it,.

If I get to pick the direction I want commentary to take, it's this:

-Michaels/Collinsworth as the default commentary.

-32 sets of custom commentary available as DLC. Each one of them being the radio announcers for a specific team. They would be tailored to that team, with background info, openly cheering when good things happen, and in-depth analysis about the locker room. Imagine being the Vikings and when Arizona knocks you out of the playoff race on a last second play, this actually happens in the game:
