True, but some of the glitches in madden are ridiculous. Like, sometimes switching players to make the tackle makes you control the player that is not even closes to the ballcarrier. And all you have to do
is (well all I do is) grab the ballcarrior's positions and the players on the field position, and then subtract them, and allow the player to control the closest player.

Example:

BallCarrier - Position X= 150 Position Z= 200 + 350
Defender1 - Position X= 150 Position Z= 190 + 340
Defender2 - Position X= 150 Position Z= 220 + 370
Defender3 - Position X= 135 Position Z= 200 + 335
350 - 340 = 10
370 - 350 = 20
350 - 335 = 15
So, the player would now control Defender1 because he is the closest.

The grass isn't even textured, the real thing will look a lot better.

I would definitely work on the game logic if there were a project setup and people serious about getting something done. I would want to focus on it primarily from a strategic / sim standpoint rather than a 'greatest graphics' standpoint.

I'd set my expectations a little more realistically to start, like an XBox Live Arcade playable game.

I don't. It's taken four editions to refine to the point where it is right now (IMO acceptable but other I can understand why others may respectfully disagree) so if you think a total reboot on the field will mean a better Madden anytime soon you're very likely wrong.
