Re: Gameplay or Presentation

The presentation has come a long way in recent years. Sure it needs a bit more work, but it could suffice (with a few additions and tweaks of course) for another year. It has to play well though, it's imperative.

Re: Gameplay or Presentation

For me its easily the gameplay. I'm not much of a presentation guy so I don't need halftime shows and weekly recaps. I want the game to play like a real game of NFL football. If they can improve some aspects of gameplay that need to be worked on (interactions between WRs/DBs, and between OL/DL) then it would have good replay value for me.

Re: Gameplay or Presentation

To me, both is needed, especially considering the fact that there are different teams working on both Gameplay and Presentation as well as other things. If Madden is ever going to be "revolutionary" it'll have to get both top notch. For instance, if the Gameplay was superb and the presentation was laughable (or even the same), Madden would still be behind "that other game" in some people's minds.

IMO, the Madden team's goal for Madden NFL 11 and beyond should be to make Madden the ultimate football game period, not cater to one thing and leave something else out.

Honestly no matter what this poll says. They are going to work on both of them point blank. I say both of them because they are focusing on both at this time along with other things. Thats their job.

Re: Gameplay or Presentation

I would say both. But I'm a big presentation guy so I voted that way.

Re: Gameplay or Presentation

Gotta be gameplay. If a game has absolutely amazing, unbelievable presentation but horrendous gameplay, I probably won't finish a game. But, if a game has top-notch gameplay and no presentation, I'd still play the game A LOT. Presentation won't keep me playing a game. Perfect example: NCAA Basketball 10. Awesome presentation, not so hot gameplay. Therefore, I didn't even buy it.

Exactly.

I really do believe that most people think everyone on a development team works on the same thing and are all huddled into one tiny room fighting each other in a bloody no-holds barred grudge match for time on the dev kit, lol.

There is no reason to be concerned about an issue of presentation over gameplay or vice versa, because this issue doesn't exist. But, I think we'll see this type of concern every year anyway.
