Is there a way I can change the qtr length once I start a season? If so can someone help me out.

What he said. From the screen before you launch a game, look to the right and go towards the bottom. In the last box section (can't remember the name) there is an option for Franchise settings. You can adjust the QTR length as well as the accelerated clock there.
