EA Cuts Ties With In-Game Ad Broker....

Not really big news, but news nonetheless.

Apparently tired of giving space to "Knobby Tires" and "Synthetic" on its virtual stadium walls, Electronic Arts is dropping its two in-game advertising partners and moving that sales operation in-house, beginning with Madden NFL 11.

I wish. I highly doubt it though. It just means they probably using their own Ad Server now, and/or going with a new provider.

I don't mind ads on the walls and the like, but when I'm at the LOS, I can't stand seeing an ad popping up. That's over the top. Hell, you only see that in football (soccer) games when watching them on television. I don't recall seeing an ad popping up distracting me from watching Peyton at the LOS during a broadcast.

I wouldn't minde seeing for "commercial breaks" game ads or something. like during a time-out, or halftime or something like that. EA can make their own commercials. ect.

not just over-lays.

In my mind, a commercial break is just a giant overlay that cuts off gameplay.
Now if we're talking commercials during loading times, that's something else. I wouldn't mind that if they changed up the ads every month or so.

Maybe record announcer promo's for games, like when they advertise new tv shows during games, you could have the announcer say "well that was a big hit (linebacker) put on (running back) and speaking of big hits check out EA sports newest offering, EA MMA for all your fighting needs"

It would at least keep it organic and in line with what we see (and hear) on sundays.
