Madden 07 had all the good stuff from the past 4-5 years, but with a few tweaks to make it play really well. It was definitely my favorite last gen version. When I switched to PS3 for madden 08 I was unbelieveably disappointed.

I have the exact same story, but for 360 instead of PS3.

Madden can't become the best Football game until it at least becomes as good as it's own last gen games were. Last gen madden with current generation graphics... now that would be sweet. Also, I have to admit the tempo/game speed of Madden 10 is better than last gen. Last gen is still "fast" with no speed settings.

Not that I am aware of. Sorry man.

I know I started a franchise recently where I went in and altered the rosters a bit. I did things like Raise Tony Romo's ratting to the level of Eli Manning, bumped up Frank Gore a little [He starts out like an 83 or something,] improved Wes Welker a lot [and traded him and Moss to NE a year early because the pats don't feel the same with out them when playing.] Things of that nature. Basically make players who weren't thought of as all that good and made them better.

IMO 06 is the best. Beginning in 07 the cpu running backs in franchise mode get way too many carries. 06 is the last year that was realistic in this regard.

I say go with 2004. The running animations are superb and it has a Create A Play feature. Plus, if you're familiar with Apexisfree, he says it is the best football game ever.

The offense can be a little overpowering, but it can be toned down with sliders.

I feel like 05 was the beginning of the superhuman Linebackers who could jump up and snag balls 50 feet in the air.

Which Madden had the best and deepest franchise mode with realistic stats? Thats all I really care about honestly.

I'm still playing 08 on my PS2, and love it. I just turn the vision cone and lead blocker controls off, and it's like candy.

Re: Looking to pick up Madden on the ps2: 04, 05, or 06?

2005 gets my vote. That was a great, great game. If it hadn't been for 2K5 releasing in the same year and stealing a lot if the thunder, I think people would look back at it as *the* Madden game from that era ... and of all time, really.

EDIT: Although, Matt makes a good point above ... it really might've been the unintentional start to the ridiculous LB interceptions. At the time though, I think the game as a whole was a breath of fresh air, in that defense was A. fun to play, and B. challenging to play against, which was certainly not the case in 04. You could do some ridiculous crap with Michael Vick and the Playmaker feature that year, lol.
