So when people talk about weekly progression, I kind of find myself confused . I'm of the belief that too much progression is not a good thing. Yeah, maybe you'd want to see 1-2+ increases on a weekly basis. But at times I ask myself can I generate offense with my 75 rated RB? Yes I can, so why does he need to be bumped up after a few good games?

I know that players IRL do progress and get better, but weekly updates is overkill and can possibly lead to skewed ratings. I felt the same way when they were doing weekly roster updates 2 years ago. Random-QB has a lukewarm performance and his rating goes down. He responds with a solid week or two and he's right back up. Why not just leave him at a rating that puts him in the middle of the pack?

I know this will get picked apart b/c it's not well thought out (I'm at work) but I wanted to say my piece on that.

I agree. It's not necessarily weekly progression that I think is wanted, but some fluidity to stats on a weekly basis. Add some stats like motivation and durability and having your coordinators, your fan base, your record, combined with their personal performance and desires all influence their week to week ratings I think is a better way to lapproach this rather than ratings kinda randomly bouncing around every game.

I'm just not a fan of ratings changing from wk to wk and as minimal an impact as 1-3 point increases/decreases would have, I'm not sure why so many people ask for weekly progression or 4x a year progression. I wouldn't be opposed to a midseason progression, but that's all I desire.

If progression was so cut and dry IRL, Miles Austin would have a lofty extension by now. But even with the production last year, the Cowboys still want to see that it can carry over this season. That's not a great example of my point, but it does resonate in that I'm not as obsessed with progression as others are.

Make no mistake about it, it is necessary (think of rookies and how they grow). I just have my own opinions about it. Then again, how else do you capture players improving in a videogame? That, I don't have the answer to.

I think I agree.

I think progression should be rare, maybe twice/year. Mid-season & season's end.

There has to be room left for good/bad games. 2-3 good games could mean anything... lesser opponents, play calling, ect.

Weekly progression would at least make each game mean something. I love the NBA 2k10 My Player mode. Each game has to be played well for your player to level up.

Otherwise, you have just a bunch of meaningless games.

Re: Offline Franchise: The Time for Tweaking is Over

Those are very understandable points.^^^

But say people play the way I play.I usually play Division games and maybe some games against the defending SB champs or my own lil minded rivalry games. The rest I simm.I play on All Madden now.The rest o the games I simm.SO if I can get lets say 100 yards rushing a game with a 77 rated player Id like for him to play like that when I sim a game. But he wont because of his rating. But remember now I cant do that with anyone.I remember when Jammal Anderson had a 50 or so rating in Madden and I would blow every team out with him at RB .Id have fumbles but I would still win the game with him getting close to 200 yards a game with around 30 carries. But when a game would come up that I wanted to sim he wouldnt produce anything but fumbles.

So me as a half TEXT SIM gamer I would enjoy the way progression was on PS2 with the every 4 or so weeks. That way a player would play through a simmed game the way he would if I was playing it out.

Hope that makes sense.

Re: Offline Franchise: The Time for Tweaking is Over

I like the model of 2 progression points a season.

Mid season
End of season
