How many reviews will it take to tell you that there are new rosters, locomotion and improvements to blocking.

Then they give the same/similar review of a drab and boring franchise mode...

Don't expect anything different from last year.

Nevermind...

Who said anything about beta testing? We are talking about the full game being reviewed by professional reviewers. The websites that people who do not know about the game, especially ones who dont visit "community boards around the net", will not have a good review.

And really? Let's say no mom and pop stores will release it early - or noone posts a review of it? Then what?

Update from Pasta:

"Press will be receiving early boxed copies, before the review embargo. We just aren’t sending out early code for debug units.

The reason is to give a much more in-depth experience – ensuring the press experience online, offline, all the new features, and get immediate attention/access to the development team.
"

Looks like I was kinda right. They want to be sure that the major gaming sites that don't notice the sim features and like more casual ones take note of the changes being made to the game.

Re: Madden 11 Pre-Release Reviews Limited to Single Event Viewing

The vast majority of purchasers are going to buy the game anyways. There's little point spending the money to distribute copies, fight any piracy as a result, etc.

If a review is important to you then I guess we'll see you a couple weeks after release waiting for them.

They have very little to prove, unlike with Tony Hawk which was a disaster from the start, other than to a vocal minority that's well represented on these forums.

Overall I still don't like this but it definitely isn't anything to completely dictate how the quality of the game will be.
What does that mean? Still only an event though??

OK lets talk more hypotheticals like everyone else...

How about for 12 they should just show a video to everyone. They can show the new features and all the modes for an hour...Then is it ok?

Then for 13 lets just tell them the new features and have the review based on that?

Do you really think a majority of purchasers see more than just the commercials?

It means that they are having the event as a way to have the publications and sites give questions to the devs and to also give clarification over the features that they may not know about and/or dig into deeply. They are still going to give the sites early copies of the game.

Ian has just said that some clarification about this will be posted shortly. Looks like we all jumped the gun for a moment lol.
