I'm finding it hard to understand why this is a big deal. Or a deal at all. Yes, Tony Hawk: Ride did this, but so what?

I really, really doubt that 4 months or so out from release EA said "hey, this game sucks, let's not let them pre-release review it". It's probably just a coincidence.

No but it does show a lack of confidence in the game and what reviewers might say about it. Either way - it's obvious the only thing this does is allow for a less thorough review.

This is an interesting development. I wonder why they would not want anybody to have a review copy.....

Not a big deal but the haters will jump all over this... They will say EA is paying off the reviewers that go to those events..

How? Because TH:Ride did this once and that game sucked? I fail to see how this has anything to do with the quality of the game.

Hypothetically, if GTA IV had done this and still gotten the overwhelmingly positive reviews it did, would we be having this conversation?

Yeah.

They'll sent hate mail to the devs when I'm pretty sure that the devs didn't really have anything to do with this decision.

Anyone that gets the game early from mom & pop shops are going to want to stay away from the forums unless they actually want to get bombarded with questions lol.

But hey, if I could find the game somewhere before the release date I would give impressions about it just for the sake of helping out since I do find it wrong that the heads at EA are doing this.
