Attributes that matter.

I made one of those a while back but didn't get much help.

So, I'm having a go at it again.

What are the top (at most 5) attributes you look at when setting your depth cart, picking up players etc.

FORMAT

QB:

HB:

FB:

WR:

TE:

OT:

Re: Attributes that matter.

This is probably not in the spirit of this thread, but I'd really like to see the ratings streamlined (at least in the Roster, Depth Chart, etc screens) for the various positions...for instance, do I really need to see Throw Power and Accuracy, Block Shedding, etc for a WR?

For example..for a QB...show us...
Speed, Acceleration, Injury, Toughness, Throw Power, Accuracies, Break Tackle or Elusiveness, Throw on Run, PlayAction...and that's about it. (The other ratings can still exist, just don't show them to us barring a position change...)

However, to answer in the spirit of the post..

QB: Throw Power, Deep Accuracy, Medium Accuracy, Short Accuracy, Injury

HB: Speed, Acceleration, Break Tackle, Carrying, Injury

FB: Run Blocking, Catching, Injury, Break Tackle

WR: Speed, Acceleration, Catching, Kick Return

TE: Run Blocking, Pass Blocking, Catching

OL (all): Strength, Run Blocking, Pass Blocking

DE: Speed, Acceleartion, Tackling, Block Shedding

DT: Strength, Tackling, Block Shedding, Weight (I like my DTs to be >300 lbs)

LB: Speed, Acceleration, Tackling, Zone Coverage

CB: Speed, Acceleration, Man Coverage, Zone Coverage

S: Tackling, Man Coverage, Zone Coverage

Re: Attributes that matter.

I stopped paying much attention to ratings other than speed, since speed seems to be the only rating that translates onto the field in Madden.

Of the many things that need to be improved upon...this is right at the top of my list. When it gets into your head that the multitudes of player ratings just don't mean that much [if anything] the game becomes very difficult to continue playing. Of course...just my opinion.

What are the top (at most 5) attributes you look at when setting your depth cart, picking up players etc.

FORMAT

QB: SAC, MAC, THP, INJ, SPD

HB: Trucking, Acceleration, Speed, Stamina, Agility

FB: Run Blocking Footwork/Strength, Pass Block Footwork/Strength, Awareness, Speed, Catching

WR: Speed, Catching, Catch in Traffic, Release, Route Running

TE: Catch In Traffic, Speed, Pass/Run Block Strength Footwork, Agility

OT: Run/Pass Block Strength Footwork, Strength, Impact Blocking, Acceleration, Speed

G:Run/Pass Block Strength Footwork, Strength, Agility, Accerleration, Speed

C: Run/Pass Block Strength and Footwork, Agility, Acceleration, Awareness

DE: Speed, Power/Finess Move, Strength

DT: Strength, Block Shed, Power/Finess Move

4-3 MLB: Play Recognition, Tackling, Man/Zone Coverage, Block Shed

4-3 OLB: Speed, Play Recognition, Man Coverage, Tackling, Power/Finesse Moves

CB: Man/Zone Coverage, Speed, Press,

SS: Play Recognition, Hit Power, Man/Zone Coverage

FS: Man/Zone Coverage, Play Recognition

Believe it or not I've noticed speed and acceleration matter along the o-line. I've noticed that linemen get on linebackers a lot quicker this year... well at least when I'm playing against the CPU.

Now with all that being said, I was a little disheartened after looking at this video. Makes me wonder if I'm reading too much into ratings at all when a line of punters and backup receivers can hold up against a line of Pro Bowl pass rusher like Jared Allen, Julius Peppers, etc...

Re: Attributes that matter.

I also would like to see the ratings streamlined.. There are way too many categories now and we dont even know if half of them actually do anything. Even the devs said ACC was broken... Whats the point ?

QB accuracy needs to be even more dramatic. I want to see more overthrows and erratic passes from bad QBs. And most of all, speed is way too overpowered in Madden.. I can make a D of 80-90+ speed players and dominate against the AI. Regardless of their overall ratings..
