I think the number of "misses" were skewed by the change of the DLine moves to the right stick.

Personally, I don't like the moves on the right stick and there have been many times that I will try and make a move on a blocker and I'm not actually engaged, so I go ahead and miss a hit stick. This happens to me a ton on kickoffs.

I really think that hurt the success percentage.

The more sliders the better. Definitely wouldn't hurt.

Re: What's your opinion on a slider for hit stick success rate?

Slider would be ok.
Rather they fixed it and made up/down be big hits and have left right be wrap up tackles.
Ratings should really drive the effectiveness, well ratings and timing and lining it up. The suction thing someone mentioned really offsets any fun created by the thing.
I hate hate hate the camera crap tied to it, and the "breakaway" cam - stupid arcade crap if you ask me and it really pulls you out of the game rather than draw you in - would like to at least see an option to turn that crap off!

More customization can't hurt. Maybe with a slider it would tone down the suction.

They should remove the user's ability to initiate the big hit (too much control over features like this drives cheese, which is why Wildcats can't scramble). It should be based soley on ratings...I would say you should have to have 85+ HP to even be considered a big hitter. This way you'll get the excitement that the big hit provides, under realistic circumstances.

I like the slider idea but don't see how it would be implemented online (I find it pointless playing CPU games offline). Maybe the slider should be affected per skill level. Example-Rookie (85), Pro (75), All-Pro (50), and All-Madden (25). I could see something like this implemnted to give the SIM, and Arcade/Tourney communities what they're both looking for.

Off topic, didn't NBA Live on PS1 have the option to play Arcade mode vs Simulation? I seem to have vague memories of this.

The HS has its place, but they need to change it where its more of a tackle stick. Up and down would be what they are now, left should be wrap up high, right would be wrap up low. And make it more dynamic, depending on how far you have the left stick in the direction of the tackle, determines the force of the hit.
