But there's a larger point at stake here.
It's easy to say "just buy it new"...Okay, the next time you buy/sell your car, you have to pay Toyota or whoever an extra $3500, or else the air conditioning, ABS, and radio don't work. After all, isn't Toyota entitled to some of the resale profits for their hard work in making the car? Don't you feel bad that they see zero dollars from the resale of a product they invested a lot of time and money in?
You're right that people complain about Gamestop all the time (as you noted in the other thread)...but this goes beyond just one retailer. It's a deliberate attempt to circumvent first purchaser's rights, and the implications could be far-reaching (and not just in the game industry). It's easy to shrug it off if this stops here - heck, most people on this forum buy their EA games new anyway, so no big deal...as long as it doesn't affect you personally, immediately, or in ways you couldn't have forseen, right?

Except this is just a version of what they did last year, but with a 7 day trial, and what looks like more value for the $10 all the 'omg but i have my principles' used game buyers.
if you want to have a cow, have it at Gamestop, as you can be sure that Madden 10 or 11 wont be $10 cheaper when you buy it used when missing the Online Pass code.
Really not interested in all of the doom and gloom 'this is just the beginning' stuff, some of you guys are just looking for reasons to hate. Worry about next year when it's here, and speak with your wallet.
