TLC, well said, and I think that really sums up the argument. The out and up is a perfect example because if you throw it early, you will throw an out. There is no way to throw it early and lead the WR to a spot: timing is very important in Madden.

The out and up also needs develop quicker.

Which playbook has an out and up in it?

I'll see if I can time it so the throw is made before the out cut but placed up field so it's there on the up cut. I'll post what I find.

Re: Route Based Passing in Madden 10?

I been knew this, my favorite route is a post to the middle of the field. I always throw the ball a second before my WR cuts, works everytime... if hes open...

You can go to the Vikings PB and SB Big has Double Sluggo (slant and go).

There is a true out and up in I Form 3 WR.

Re: Route Based Passing in Madden 10?

Something is definitely wrong with Madden's passing system and I never really could put my finger on it until this thread was made. So I decided to test this whole route-based passing first hand. I fired up Madden 10 and tried this similar play (except with no play action):

Procedure:
1. I snapped the ball.
2. With an amazing pocket and no visible blitzing DBs, I purposely threw the ball early to my WR on the Go Route.

Purpose:
- I wanted to see how the WR would react.

Result:
- My WR actually altered his route (the ball was thrown a bit off target), threw his hands up in the air at just the right time and caught the freakin ball, lol. And keep in mind, this WR was actually looking downfield 100% of the time. Those are some seriously legit psychic powers that even Jerry Rice never had.

I tried out the I-Form - Slot Flex : 966 H Flat

The Out & Up in that play isn't a standard out and up. The play art has a triangle in the receivers route. When I watched the receiver go through his route, he makes a "stand still" cut where he leans into his fake by planting and stopping his momentum on both cuts...

This play looks like it's more a candidate for a pump fake on the out cut fake, then a lob up the sideline. With the receiver stopping his momentum, passes are going to be alot tougher to time to get a route based pass.
