If you're looking for the best PS3 version so far my opinion is that 09 was the best. Graphically, 10 was easily the prettiest, but to me the game felt like it was run by nothing but animations so the gameplay has a really canned feeling. 09 was a tad too dark and not as polished, but the I thought the game played better. Also, the you can find the collector's version for like 10 bucks on Amazon and that comes with Head Coach and a playable version of Madden 93 too. Can't beat that with a stick.

What was franchise like that year? Was it as deep as 08? Deeper?

It's hard for me to say. I love next gen, but there are things about last gen that were nice too. Tough one for me.

Madden 94 & 95-Genesis
Madden 99-PS1
Madden 03 & 05-PS2 (06 woulda made it, but teams hosting the SuperBowl ruined it IMO)
Madden 10-360
Hopefully '11 will be on the list next year.

Madden 09 was my favorite this gen. Madden 92 was my favorite on Genisis and madden 05 was my favorite on PS2
