From the videos I've seen it looks like they haven't changed much and don't want to show to much. But hopefully I'm wrong

Yeah, when I watched the soccer videos for FIFA 10 it looked like a bunch of BS marketing nonsense to me too but then I got the game....

How is this year's 'silence' any different than other years?

Madden 10 was unprecedented in that information about the game was like a fountain, but that was the exception rather than the rule. After E3, we will see tons of information seeping out, but rarely do we have this much information at this point. Are we spoiled now?

Patience is a virtue...

I prefer the silence. I don't want bold claims that aren't fully done. Wait and announce what you know you can deliver. It's a better business practice. I liked Madden 10 and still play it but, I was a little dissappointed because it was overhyped. The more they build it up the bigger the fall if it doesn't meet expectations. (madden will never meet some peoples expectations)

Re: What's your take on the silence from Tiburon?

I think that they are going in a different direction this year then in years past. I don't think they want the hype for the game to peak like 3-4 months before release like it did last year. Which in theory can result in decreased sales, just look at Madden 10. So I think they will not release any ground breaking info -- if there is any -- until at least E3 rolls around, and maybe even a little bit after. I think this is a hype control scheme by EA, because if the hype for the game peaks just before release, unlike in years past, it may result in increased sales. But that is just my opinion, and conspiracy theory.

That actually sounds logical my friend...

I don't mean that in a sense they're holding back blockbuster features, but that could maybe explain why we haven't really seen any straight-up gameplay vids. Then again, the demo drops for NCAA in 2 weeks and we still haven't seen any pure, uninterrupted, gameplay footage.

Re: What's your take on the silence from Tiburon?

It's really not a good thing.. I'm going to stray away from sports for my example... Modern Warfare 2.. If anyone is very familiar with the game, you know that it was a huge disappointment and that a lot of it was because the developer (Infinity Ward) wasn't saying anything about the game and they didn't release a beta for it (like COD4 had and look how great that game was.)

Tiburon doesn't need a beta, they just need to reveal some more and listen to the community about what they think, what they should add, and what they should remove. Communication really is the key to a great game.
