You increase the AI skills and dumb down your own players skills.

With Fifa and NHL I just choose my difficulty level and have challenging games. I don't have to tinker with all kinds of sliders in order to handicap myself.

Re: Do you "dumb" down your game to play Madden?

I've always been an 'ask Madden' guy, choosing from the list of six plays that appear. Last year I began choosing a button at the beginning of the game that would be my play everytime. For example; If i select 'A' before the game, everytime I ask Madden I choose the play shown at 'A'. This made the game pretty difficult at times because I had to run plays that I was generally unfamiliar with.

i use ask madden for offense and defense. it really does make the game alot better instead the urge to use that sweep to the left run play every time :P and i use sliders in range between all-pro and all-madden. im really looking forward to the game plan (gameflow?) feature with madden 11.

Re: Do you "dumb" down your game to play Madden?

I use 7-10 different running plays and about 20 pass plays. My goal isnt to beat the CPU, thats not the challenge. I try to get a lot of different players involved in the game and my goal is perfection.

Beating the CPU is the equlivlant of making it safely around the track in a racing game. Sure, its a goal, but it should be a given. The real challenge is how well you can do it and to keep bettering yourself.

Not really, cause I still run the same plays but the AI is better at defending them. It's harder to complete passes and run the ball..What I interpreted from the OP was that he means not calling specific plays and actually thinking about what plays to call that wont be automatic 1st downs. There's a difference.

Re: Do you "dumb" down your game to play Madden?

To me using Ask Madden every play is dumbing the game down...interesting idea in theory but really takes the fun out of it IMO. I just want to play the game the way I play - fair mix of run 1st/2nd down, to set up 3rd down, etc - without having to as the OP says 'dumb things down' on All Pro and having cheap AI take over on All Madden. I can't see how using Ask Madden is any fun, TBH.

Re: Do you "dumb" down your game to play Madden?

There are too many money patterns for WRs. Too many easy ways to get 8-80 yards on screen plays. Too many ways to use the Power or Toss play with a 93+ Spd player...

They should work on fixing logic, CPU intelligence and actual gameplay based on ratings.

That said... Ask Madden is the only way to somewhat guarantee that you get a decent game if you are good at Madden.

Yep. I always use "Ask Madden" feature, regardless of situation and do not call any audibles. Part of the challenge is forcing myself to overcome the situation placed in via CPU playcalling. This is why I'm looking forward to the new gameplan feature.
