I can appreciate your POV however you seemed to dodge a post by splff that I dropped below again for you:
OK, I'm going to address both bolded parts and why I feel the way I do about both.
The first part where you said Madden does a phenomenal job of converting the pro game to video game is your opinion and with that opinion you are in the minority my friend. To prove my point, let's look at what was supposedly added to gameplay this year.
- Right stick juking (was in 2k5)
- Sideline and back of the endzone catches (was in 2k5)
- locomotion (players look like they are skating now)
These are all that I can remember right off the top of my head. Now let's look what Madden doesn't have or doesn't do right.
- No realistic challenge system (2k5 had this)
- No 2 and 3 hit tackles(2k5 had this)
- No WR/DB jostling (2k5 had this)
Man I could go on for days with this. Face it man, 6 yrs ago a game on last gen is better than what we have now. Do this for me. Other than graphics, tell me 3 things that Madden has gameplay wise that 2k5 didn't have. I just showed you 3 things right off the top of my head that 2k5 has that madden doesn't have. I didn't even go in depth or think hard about it. They were right there. Like I said, if I really went in depth with it and really thought about the things that are in 2k5 that aren't in Madden, I'm sure that would be a very long post.
As for the reviews of 2k5 compared to Madden 05 that's neither here nor there. Did you know that reviews of the first Spiderman movie were poor at first, but it was a big hit, wasn't it? What does that mean? The only review that matters is the consumer review and the consumer review of NFL 2k5 was overwhelmingly good. Personally, as far as gameplay and the X's and O's of football go, I think 2k5 on xbox was THE greatest football game I ever played. I didn't own it because I didn't own an xbox, but I sure played it A LOT. On PS2, it wasn't as good, so on that system I would give the nod to Madden 05. Still though, I'm sure I'm not the only one that thinks NFL 2k5 on xbox is the greatest football game ever, gameplay wise.
Now to the second bolded part. The line about APF2k8 being total crap is your opinion and just like with your other opinion, you are in the minority with that one. Now there are people that didn't like it, but the majority of the people that have played it will say that it was at least decent. The lack of an NFL license really hurt it. Believe it or not, the NFL license sells products. Why do you think there is the official TV of the NFL or the official truck of the NFL or whatever. It sells products. That's why EA went after it so hard. Like I said before, I think NFL 2k5 is THE greatest football game I ever played gameplay wise. I thought APF was pretty good, but without the NFL license, I couldn't really see myself playing it.
You seem to be pushing this 2k agenda really hard. This is what I believe. I believe that with Madden 06, 07, and maybe 08 there were some 2k guys that were still sore over the exclusive license deal, so they gave Madden a hard time. This is 2010 now. That was 5 yrs ago. I'm sure that most have gotten over the exclusive agreement stuff and those that haven't or in the 2k forums getting updated rosters. The rest of us just want a good game of football, no matter who makes it. I've been a Madden guy since I've been playing football games. I was a member of maddenmania, maddencentral, maddenplanet, and here at OS back in the day. I would say I was one of the most die hard Madden guys you could find back in the day. But look at my posts as of late. By reading those you would think that I was one of those 2k guys just hating on madden. It's not just the 2k guys nowadays. It's everybody, and IMO, rightfully so. Like I said earlier, you have your opinion, but I hav no doubt in my mind that you are in the minority with your opinion. Have a nice day.
