"Going through his progressions"

I've only seen like 5 videos. But i've heard that line at least 45 times. "He's got a man deep". How is he repeating himself over and over.

Welcome to video game commentary.

It's always repetitive. Always. They record a few lines for any given scenario and the game picks one. Maybe you won't hear it as often in a single game, but when you're watching bits and pieces of multiple games you're gonna hear repeats.


/at least "going through his progressions" is a bit less annoying than plays that are "folding quicker than an over-caffeinated origami artist".

^^^ I don't know about that. You can go many games without hearing "folding quicker than an over-caffeinated origami artist", but you're doomed to hear "going through his progressions" on every single drive, multiple times, in every single game.

How come they can do it? And not make it sound like an awkward robot.

Robotic commentary can certainly still be found in MLBtheShow's solid franchise. Commentary is actually one of their weak points.

Matt Vasgersian deliver lines in a manner that truly mimics live play-by-play broadcast. It has that in the moment quality.

Dave Campbell and Rex Hudler, on the other hand have dry, cut and paste, robotic delivers that spoil the moment each and every single time. Re-watch the entire clip from beginning to end. Hudler will interject every now and then in a robotic manner.

There are other sports video games that do much better than the Madden franchise with commentary. It's just not their strength.

But yes, to agree with the first post, that phrase is being used far too often.

It is still in development but you are probably going to hear it a ton in the final build, but I don't it will be as much in the final build. I am more concerned with the silent parts of the audio than with him repeating that line, the silence just kills the feel for the game for me, and would be nice to hear more just random chatter between commentators about stats, facts about certain players, talk about a play that happened earlier in the game just something to feel in the empty space. But it's not the retail version for all I know so, I hope more substance will be added.
