Is EA Sports on this plan?

I don't know if it's just me, but I've noticed that EA Sports is on the every other year plan. What I mean is, look at Madden NFL 09. That game was not a very good one in my opinion. Then you get Madden NFL 10, that game had a lot of positive drastic changes compared to 09. Then finally, Madden 11.

Don't get me wrong what Ian and crew have done with this game so far is absolutely amazing. However, it doesn't look like they've made the same drastic changes that they did with Madden NFL 10. Then you get news that basically, Madden NFL 12 is going to be the year of the franchise. Which means Franchise Mode is going to be drastically changed, also meaning that presentation will have a lot of major improvements also. Because we all know that a great franchise mode cant be done without improved presentation...

So can you kind of see where I'm coming from along the lines of the every other year plan? Please keep in mind that this thread is not to start any wars, just simply voicing my opinion. What do you all think?

Kind of like how most liked NCAA 09, but didn't like 10. Now everyone is all over NCAA 11.

Maybe next year we'll have a great NCAA and Madden game in the same year!

So now not only is the dev team saying "Maybe next year", but we are too?

I defiantly see that trend for the most part, but I personally think I will like M11 better than M10 because of the awesome looking co-op.

I've been saying that since Madden 06. Most of us have.

I think they're pulling resources from Madden and saving up to buy another exclusive license

Innovating the way Madden represents football with sweat and dollars is the last thing EA higher ups want to do

Innovating ways to take advantage of the consumers through DLC is very high on their "to do list"

Re: Is EA Sports on this plan?

All the next gens have been poor and while M10 was an improvement it was still bad. So I do see a pattern Madden06 - Madden11 on next gen = bad.

I fear this may be the case, especially since we have seen just as much, if not more, focus on gimmicks to increase sales (Online Pass, DLC, MUT, Boostables, Consumables) as we have with regards to actual gameplay fixes.

What's crazy when you think about all of this stuff:
  • Online Pass
  • DLC
  • MUT (Card Packs)
  • Boostables (Madden Shop)
  • Consumables (Scouting Report)
... is that none of it was in Madden less than a year ago.
