Madden 08 was horrible and I wasn't impressed with Madden 09 either. To me, M10 is the first decent football game EA has released on the next gen consoles. This makes me lose some respect for these reviewers, because to me Madden 08 being the best rated game is a joke.

I think 09 and 10 deserved 8.0 and better. The other 3 should be below 8.0 to tell you the thruth. I think madden 11 will get atleast 8.5 at best.

I hope this will be the year we get some honest reviews for a change. From what i can tell, a lot of people are frankly tired of constantly giving Madden the benefit of the doubt and some of the reviewers may of been subject to that perspective as well.

on the point, i actually liked 09 a lot, i had a pretty long texans dynasty in that, i loved the ability to train 3 players every week

The problem is that the game is beautiful on the exterior. Madden has the glitz and glam that makes it perfect eye candy and a marketing dream, but it's all an illusion. On the surface, you're seeing the body of a Ferrari.... sleek and sexy. Then you open the hood to see they've replaced the engine with that of a Fiesta.

These reviewers take a quick jaunt through the menu, play a couple of "Play Now" games and are taken by the visuals. Most probably don't understand the intricacy of pro football and don't see the game-breaking flaws for the hardcore football gamers. Even the seasoned Madden players have to play the game for a few days to get the feel for how deep the bugs run. The reviewers are accountable for the scores they give, but I'd say that Madden is tricky to review. I was in love with '10 until I really started to dive into the game after a few days.

The Madden Devs have become very good at "Band-aiding" the faults in the game.
To a casual user or reviewer, they really don't notice that the game is still inherently broken, they really don't notice the new shiny thing is actually there to take your attention away from the real, deep cracks/canyon in the gameplay.
I don't think it's entirely their fault, they only play the game for an hour or two and probably could care less about the broken blocking or tackling.
