What happened to "Stretched ratings"?

i remember reading about how EA stretched out the ratings to accentuate the differences between the bad, good and great players....

yet looking at the game's rosters this year, it seems as though everyone is stacked up into the 80s and 90s again as it was in years past... anyone else seeing this too? thoughts?

If I didn't know any better, I'd say it might have been a Madden 10 exclusive..........

I believe this also referred to seeing a bigger difference between ratings, hence them be stretched out. So yes, you might have a 90 ovr, but he won't be nearly as good as a 99 ovr.

I'm not saying you're wrong. but this is NOT how i understood the "stretched-out ratings".

Yah your version is definitely correct. Their prime example of how it worked was that an average ho hum starter, who would've been like a mid 80 in 06-09, would now be like a 70 something. But yes, it seems like they stuck to it for one year and are now already inflating ratings.

yeah, this is more along the lines of what i understood. i dunno why they only did this for one year tho. and you're totally right, looking at the ratings that have been released so far for 11, there are a ton of players stacked up into the 80s and 90s again.

WTF Donny Moore? you guys made such a big deal out of this last year, and now just one year later, you're totally abandoning it?

this was actually a REALLY good idea and I felt it made a substantial impact to the game. it's not even something that takes a ton of dev work either (like adding a ton of features to franchise would).

Re: What happened to "Stretched ratings"?

I don't know what happened to the idea, but I am disappointed its not back in. I wish they would have built on it and stretched them more in this year's. An average player should be a 70 while a great player should be 80+ and an amazing superstar like P. Manning should be around 94. I'd like to see most teams with the majority of players in the 60s and 70s with their stars in the 80s and some 90s.

My Redskins would have mostly 70s with London Fletcher at 88, Donovan McNabb at 84, Chris Cooley at 90, Santana Moss at 83, and Mike Sellers at 81. Then like the Rams would be a lot of 60s and some 0s with Stephen Jackson at 89, Avery at 83, and OJ at 87.

This would make teams a lot different in my opinion. Having a star receiver or defensive back would mean a lot more. A guy like Revis at a 90 would definitely be a lot better than DeAngelo Hall at 76.
