they had this value rating in the trade system on ps2 madden. what, they don't have it anymore? i wouldn't know because i ended up skipping '10 due to the choppy animations.

3 points for graphics, 1 point for the passable commentary, and a half point for the boxart. I can give no further points since the all over the place gameplay would ruin it anyway.

Maybe not time to abolish but it is time to crate an on off switch.

Re: Time to abolish the OVR Rating?

I would love this. I think a rating for guys in a certain system would add more realism as a whole. As opposed to a one size fits all overall rating. And hopefully it will be reflected in the way teams sign free agents and draft players. It's the next step in improving franchise mode. Hopefully Ian and comp. will take a serious look at this for M12.

Re: Time to abolish the OVR Rating?

This is a great idea for a single player offline franchise with the rest of the league being CPU controlled. However, what about multi-player offline and online franchises? If USERs can see the other ratings along with the value rating, they will still pick guys based on those.

I think this is idea along with stopping all other ratings from being displayed, would really make it universal. I also think they should add a bar system and player conditions like Tecmo Bowl too. Just my two cents.

Then 3-4 teams wouldn't be playing 250 pound DE's. That would be great.

I like this idea

Time to pitch this idea to EA and see what someone there thinks of this.

Re: Time to abolish the OVR Rating?

Pretty good idea. They had something closer to this in NFL Head Coach 09 that I really enjoyed.

Each team viewed a different overall based on the teams' scheme, which also allowed for much more realistic drafting and signings. For example, someone like a Mount Cody (I forget his first name, I just know he's a freakin' massive NT) would have a high overall for a team like the Ravens or Chargers, but his overall with a team like the Colts would be abysmal.

Plus, on Head Coach, it was made up a few different things, such as physical, intangibles, and production. Production is another huge one, if a guy had a big season, he was valued higher, and a low season valued lower, i.e., the Matt Cassel effect.

Just things like this would go a LONG way in fixing current gen Madden's franchise mode.
