A combo of these opens the game up more, maybe too much in other areas though
That's the problem though. Run defense and blocking on running plays is fine. If you change that to help out kick returns, you'll overpower your running game.

Basically, I agree with this. I'm not sure what the average NFL kick and punt return yardage is, regardless the blocking here on special teams still seems broken. IMO, it's way too hard to get any yardage. It's really more about the missed blocks and inability to accelerate away from defenders, or break tackles, than the yard marker I reach.

Re: Kick Return trouble?

Last year the return game on kickoffs was too easy. This year it seems a bit hard. Need a happy medium. This year it seems average return is 15-20 yards. Last year it was 25-35 yards. I think in the real NFL it is 20-25, correct me if I'm wrong.

Kick returning is ok IMO. You average around the 20 yard line but there is the possibility to break a big one. Punt returning is an absolute mess, I have not gotten a return of more then 5 yards yet.

Guys, speed threshold is a major factor in kick returns. At 40 your returner gets to the wedge quicker and the kickoff team doesn't get there quite as quickly.

Re: Kick Return trouble?

You guys sleep in on Sundays? The game is not about wanting to return for TD every kick off. Like someone in this thread says, "if you get to the 35 that's awesome!". If you watch Sunday football, you'll notice guys like Devin Hester making amazing returns to the 35 and if he get's lucky 45. Field position is the key to a good offense to put you in scoring position. This forces for squib kicks which is now a new feature in madden. Not every kick will be returned. If you instant replay, you'll notice you should have done this and done that and that would probably spring you for a few more hards.

I like the KR challenge, bring it on with Hester suckas.

Some stats to help the debate move along

http://espn.go.com/nfl/statistics/te...sition/defense

Of course what we really need is average starting position following kickoff returns. Tougher to find though.

I too think that M11 does it better than M10, it was too easy under M10 to get to the 30.

Lets see what Kickoffs are like with Hester and Cribbs and then we can worry...
